Online Sharing: Topic 10

1. I used Padlet and this could be very useful if you have a class that you need a discussion board. All the kids can share their thoughts on a certain topic because anyone can post. The only downside I can see is that anyone can post so if you put anything that is not opinionated you have to make sure that it is credible.

2. One tool that I would most likely use in the future is VoiceThread because it seems to give a new meaning to talking over the phone basically eliminating the need to travel to places to have a meeting. This can also help with school projects is you are in a group where you need to meet up.

3. I liked seeing all of the different options that we all have to use for a lot of different things some for school and some for entertainment purposes. I never would have known that all these neat thing were out there but now they are all very useful resources to me that I can and have used.

4. I wouldn't change anything about this tutorial because it is extremely easy to understand and changing it in any way might make it harder to understand.

Evaluating Information Web Sites and Citing Sources: Topic 9

3.You are responsible for writing a paper on the production of electricity in your state. Which resource is least likely to have biased information:

CHOOSE ONE ANSWER.
3. The electronic company that sets the rates would absolutely gave biased information because because they would tell you anything to make them look good so you don't want to ask them about anything relating them or there competitors becaie

7.Contemporary and up-to-date refer to:

CHOOSE ONE ANSWER.

7. Contemporary and up-to-date refer to currency not accuracy because when something is up-to-date it is current and it doesn't always have to be accurate.

9.When you are assessing a website's objectivity, which of the following would you not examine?

CHOOSE ONE ANSWER.
9. When assessing a websites objectivity, you would not examine the currency of hyperlinks because they can still have good information. Just because it's a hyperlink doesn't mean that is it a bad website that you need to be redirected to get credible information. They could be other websites that go more in depth on a topic that the first website was just touching on.

Books and Reading: Topic 8

To make my shelf I used LibraryThing

There was absolutely nothing hard about using LibraryThing the only exception might be trying to find the link so you can embed it into a blog but once you find it, it's smooth sailing. I really enjoyed the wide selection of books they provide for you and once you find what you're looking for it gives you recommendation on books you might also enjoy.

The main reason I chose this website over Shelfari and Goodreads was because I liked how it looked on a blog over the other two. It is more compact and, In my opinion, fits a lot better because it's not taking over the entire blog.

If I ever had to do a report on multiple books, this would be a great way to showcase them. It can help people get a visual for the book as I talk about it and it can help them get a feel for what kind of book it is based on the cover.

Documents and Presentations: Topic 7

1. Google drive can be extremely useful when you want to do anything group related in class. I recently used it for a project that three other people had to work on and we all ended up doing really well because we were able to collaborate really well and make sure that are information worked well together. Here is my  Book Timeline I created for The Giver.

2. The tool I selected was Powtoon. This site lets you created animated presentations that you can use for anything that involves you trying to get you point across. It gives all of your works that "WOW!-factor" and is super easy to use along with being free, all you need is a Google account and you are ready to start Powtooning.

3. Basically I'm Obsessed with Corvettes.

Creating Animations and Videos : Topic 6

Click here to view in wide screen

I chose to use Dvolver because it looked like it was something that was really simple and easy to use but also looked good as well. It was extremely easy to use and it's very easy to understand. Most anyone could use this site if they wanted too. If you plan an making a short clip using Dvolver then I recommend playing around with all your options and not writing a lot of stuff because it doesn't give much time for you to read and some people may not finish. I could use this if I wanted to get a point across fast on a presentation or speech in class.

Creating Your Own Images: Topic 5

1.
I made this using Image Chef

2.
I made this using Big Huge Labs

3. These sites are great if you wanted to mess around with photos of you or your friends and you could put them on Facebook or Instagram as well. For school purposes you could use these sites to add a different dynamic to any pictures you use in a project and they could help make it look a lot better.

Photos, Images and Giving Credit: Topic 4

1. Why can't you copyright an idea?
Because the chances are, you were not the first person to have that idea and many stories follow the same idea but are entirely different.

2. How long does a copyright last?
Typically, under most circumstances, a copy right lasts for 70 years.

What is Creative Common licence and why is it important to us?
Creative Commons licenses help creators retain copyright while allowing others to copy, distribute, and make some uses of their work, at least non-commercially. and it is important because it ensures licencors get the credit for their work they deserve.

Pictures:

1. I chose this picture of a question mark because Jonas, the main character, always asks question. I thought a question mark was appropriate to describe him.

2. I chose this picture of eyes because these are the things that really set Jonas apart from his peers. His unusual eyes, his ability to see things change in a way that he cannot explain.

3. I those this image of "thought" because Jonas is always thinking and has an ability that no other person has and i feel like this picture describes him really well.

Book Characters: Topic 3

Blogging can enhance learning in high schools because kids could share there ideas and finished works with all other classmates and teachers more efficiently and another thing is you can use blogs to make discussion boards for a subject. Another use for blogs is to challenge the author with questions which can not only get them thinking but anyone who reads the question.

Two characters that are in my book is Jonas and Asher. They are both boys how are friends in their mid teens (around 14 maybe) and it hasn't described what they look like yet but I see Jonas as a taller person with brown hair and is skinny but not too skinny and I see Asher as a shorter boy with black hair and just a little more mature than Jonas. Jonas has a very calm yet quizzical attitude where as Jonas has a very lackadaisical, "I'll do it later", kind of attitude. So far they don't have any problems because it is still very early in the book but in the future they seem very likely to run into many challenges throughout the entire book. If i saw these guy in real life I feel that we could get along with them very well and become friends with them pretty quickly.

The book (so far) takes place in a suburb like setting with a lot of families and people within the town. It takes place in present day but the people living in this world have rules that they need to follow. There is a part where Jonas is riding his bike to school but they have warnings over the speakers around the town and it said "you have to get into the nearest building" and in Jonas's case that was a house. That scene is what made me think that the book took place in the suburbs because he has been riding his bike through neighborhoods to get to school and it has that kind of feel.

Avatars: Topic 2

To make my avatar I used DoppelMe

In DoppelMe it is very simple to make an avatar. All I did was click create and it brought me to a bunch of different options for face, skin, hair, etc. and you click on what you want your avatar to look like and I made mine look similar to how I look in real life. I chose to make mine similar to how i look in real life because I want people to get a sense of what i look like but without actually seeing my face

Wimp Yourself is another cool avatar creator, you cant really customize it but there are a lot of options to click through.

Digital Citizenship: Topic 1

I believe the blogging guideline that i will have the most trouble following is number 10.

10. "Anytime you use media from another source, be sure to properly cite the creator of the original work. Ask yourself: Who is the original creator of this work?"

The reason for this is because when I read something, I like to get it down as fast as I can so I don't forget it or leave it out if it is important.

What is digital citizenship?

Digital citizenship is basically a concept that helps people understand how to use technology appropriately.

What are the rights and responsibilities of a digital citizen in today's world?

Some rights and responsibilities of a digital citizen is to keep things private and be extremely careful on what you post and if anyone asks you to take something down that might be hurtful or offend the person then you should always take it down. Basically be kind and respectful to other and yourself because it can also negatively impact you as well.

Thoughts About My Digital Footprint

It is really strange being able to just type my name and see things like my Twitter and Facebook and i guess it is very common to find those thing about anyone but also, like before, i like to keep everything private so not many people see what going on in my life.
